Long decision-making processes, tight budgets and high public expectations – every local authority is familiar with these challenges.
Last Thursday, I attended the simul+ meets futureSAX innovation forum “Smart Cities and Regions” at the Carlowitz Congress Centre in Chemnitz, together with my colleague Gisela Fabel. Best-practice projects, pitch sessions and genuine dialogue between the public sector and industry demonstrated just how straightforward digitalisation can be.
Numerous trade visitors were able to see this for themselves at the citizen terminal provided by our subsidiary WES Systeme Electronic GmbH. Supported by software from buergerservice.org e.V., citizens were able to carry out their administrative tasks via self-service: using their eID to access a wide range of administrative services directly – no queues, no appointments, simply available 24/7.
This is not a vision of the future. It is already happening.
