A Tangible Milestone: Our First Product “Made in Houston”

A moment to remember: Last week, the very first product was assembled in our new production facility in Houston – by none other than our CEO, Karin Weigelt. With this, the official starting signal has been given: GETT is now manufacturing in the U.S.

What previously existed only in plans, CAD drawings, and location analyses has now become a reality you can touch. The first industrial-grade keyboard – assembled right here in Texas – marks a true milestone in our mission to combine German engineering with the agility of the U.S. market.

Why This Is More Than Just a Symbolic Step

Our new production line in Houston is more than just a few assembled components. It represents a promise to our customers and partners: We are local. We deliver quality. We understand what it takes to manufacture successfully in the U.S. For businesses considering entering the U.S. market, our journey offers valuable insights:
  • Local production = shorter lead times: In many industries – especially those relying on sensitive components like adhesive layers – every minute counts. Once processed, these materials must be handled quickly to preserve quality. Our visit to a local supplier reinforced this. Fun fact: Over ten years ago, this supplier used to rent our current production building. Texas business networks can be surprisingly small.
  • Hands-on experience with U.S. manufacturing conditions: Our facility was built step-by-step – combining external expertise with a deep understanding of how to merge German industrial standards with Texan pragmatism. The result: efficient and scalable production processes.
  • Market access through networks: That same week, we welcomed Packwise, an innovative German startup expanding into the U.S. Their first sales meeting at a car wash was a textbook example of how direct business is done in Texas: The owner was impressed – and signed on the spot. No fuss, no delay.

A Strong Foundation for What’s Ahead

Our first two production workstations are up and running – and they’re just the beginning. In the coming months, we’ll be ramping up production, standardizing processes, and growing our local team. Houston offers the perfect base: excellent infrastructure, proximity to suppliers and customers, and an environment that embraces innovation and entrepreneurship.

We ended the week with a team lunch – time to connect, reflect, and raise a glass to our first “Made in Houston” product.

What We’ve Learned

For companies considering a U.S. presence, our experience is proof that it’s possible – with the right partner, the right know-how, and a clear plan. At GETT, we don’t just bring technical expertise – we bring real-world implementation experience. Whether as an OEM partner, tech supplier, or strategic guide for entering the U.S. market, we know what matters.

Next up: Detroit. Karin joined our Global Key Account Manager Andrea Ebersbach at the Automate trade show. What we saw and who we met there – that story deserves a blog post of its own. Stay tuned.
